Chardonnay

Chardonnay is famous as a white wine. It is a grape variety with green skin which came from the wine region of Burgundy. Wherever wine is cultivated, the grape is grown. From New Zealand to England, these wines are seen as an easy path to the international wine market.

The Chardonnay wines can be best described as rich. They have distinct yet delicate aroma and can be characterized as enigmatic yet easy to distinguish. There are four different styles of this variety of wine available: sparkling wines, sweet late harvest wines, dry still wines and botrytized wines. The taste of the wine is influenced by of oak of the cask that the wine is aged in and other factors such as the malolactic fermentation of the wine.

In America, Chardonnays are number one selling white wine varietal. These wines have become the most cherished dry white wines available on the market. They offer a dramatic range of flavor: oak overtones, the sparkling fruit flavor of pear, melon, apple, tropical citrus and a lasting after taste impression.

Chardonnay wines are best paired with seafood, pork, poultry dishes or a recipe with a butter base or heavy cream. The unoaked Chardonnays are perfect with garlic, grilled shrimp, salads, and guacamole or curry dishes.
