Pearl S. Bucks 120th birthday celebrated with flowers and floral quilts
Fans have celebrated the 120th birthday of Nobel prize in Literature winner Pearl S. Buck with a display of flowers and floral quilts, according to an article published by The Reporter.
The quilts and flowers went on display last Thursday (June 21) �at the Pearl S. Buck House in Perkasie, Pennsylvania.�Those present on Tuesday (June 26) �were treated to a reading from the writers novel, America before they sang "Happy Birthday" and enjoyed a slice of birthday cake.
Buck was renowned for her humanitarian efforts - �which include championing international adoption - and spent much of her life in China.
President and CEO of Pearl S. Buck International, Janet Mintzer, applauded the writers work and efforts at the event.
She said: "She committed the last part of her life to helping the worlds neediest children."
Mintzer also revealed that Buck had left a legacy in China too, adding: "In China they had a tremendous celebration for Pearl S. Bucks 120th Birthday."
