Serenata presents Chianti Classico from Rocco di Montegrossi Vineyards in the heart of the Chianti Valley from Tuscany. Located on the outskirts of Monti in the rolling hills of Tuscany, the vineyard is 7 km from Giaoli. Led by Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi the winery has become nationally known for its Tuscany wines after its major expansion and remodeling which was finished in 2000. Marco is a descendant of the family that has owned and produced Tuscany wines here since before 800 AD.
The vineyard is 60 hectares of which 12 are planted with the Sangiovese grapes used to produce Chianti. Combined with 5% Canaiolo and 5% Colorino grapes to complement the fruity taste of the wine, Chianti Classico is the main product of the vineyard. The other wines of the vineyard are limited if necessary to produce the lead wine. Yearly, about 45,000 bottles are produced by the winery. This Chainti has an aroma that is berry scented with a deep ruby red color. Chianti is known for its deep berry aroma. The wine is slightly tannic and will continue to mature up to four years after purchase. The wine is cured in several different wood casks for 12 months. Then it is bottled directly from the cask without straining where it is cured 12 more months before being judged ready for shipment.
