Generally Serenata provide an excellent service. I was disappointed recently when they failed to deliver chocolates to nurses wher I had been in hospital. No liaison with me, just a cancelled delivery and a refund. Problem may have been because box said Serenata Flowers, even though the contents were chocolate.
Ordering was straightforward, and the hamper arrived the following day. I received several reassuring emails updating me on the incipient delivery. It was a gift, so I haven't seen the item myself, but the recipient seemed pleased with her pile of chocolate. I'd use this company again.
delievered on time Flowers Fabulous and Chocolate Hamper good value !
After reviewing various presentations in the website, on-line ordering was easily accomplished. Good programing. Pricing was reasonable. The Get Well card should not cost that much. However, I understand that requires manual input so am OK with that. Progress in acknowledgement of the order was prompt as well as delivery notification. Recipient was very pleased with the flowers. Thank you.
My Auntie said they were the best ever beautiful flowers. I have ordered many times from you in the past few years as living in Canada I don't get over very much. My Auntie Sheila is 89 yrs young and has been the best Mom for me ever. I love her dearly and Serenata flowers I can trust! Thank you very MUCH! Sincerely Trudy Thomas
I often send flowers to my mum and she is always pleased to receive them but this is the first time she has asked me to let the florist know how lovely the flowers were and how much they brightened her day. The email updates were really useful for me. I will be using Serenata again
The whole experience was easy and a pleasure to experience. Great selection, great value for money and terrific communication throughout. Last but not least the recipient said the flowers were beautiful.
Many individuals, especially those with a sweet tooth, tend to favour chocolate truffles over other forms of the delicacy. Unlike the vast majority of moreish sweet treats, truffles boast a chocolate ganache centre and a cocoa powder exterior. Certain varieties have different toppings including chopped and toasted nuts, mints or even sea salt. Chocolate truffles are confectionery products made traditionally with ganache center and coated either in chocolate, nuts or dusted with cocoa powder. Where does the name come from? Chocolate truffles are named after tuber fungus (also called truffle) because their shape resembles that of the real truffle. There are three main varieties available in most shops – the traditional Belgian truffle chocolate, which are made with dark or milk chocolate and filled with either ganache, nut paste or buttercream. Another popular variety of chocolate truffles are French truffles, which are made using fresh cream and chocolate and usually use cocoa powder or nut powder for dusting. Swiss truffles are similar to the French ones, they are made by combing melted chocolate with dairy cream and butter and sprinkled with cocoa powder. Freshly prepared truffle chocolates have very limited shelf life, so if you get some in a shop, make sure you eat them within a day or two. Some other chocolate truffles varieties that have been gaining popularity are California truffles, these are a bit larger than the traditional French truffle chocolates.
Chocolate truffles began their journey in France and is still, to this day, a popular sweet treat. The original versions boasted a ball of ganache in the shape of cream and chocolate, usually flavoured and finished with a generous sprinkling of cocoa powder. According to a number of studies, the French culinary connoisseur Auguste Escoffier first created chocolate truffles in the 1920's. Legend states this 'now' popular creation was in fact a mistake and occurred when the renowned chef's apprentice accidentally poured hot cream into a bowl of broken up chocolate chunks. As the mixture hardened, he rolled small portioned into balls and later experimented with different textures and ganaches. It was at this point in time that the humble truffle chocolates were born. American truffles created by Joseph Schmidt Confections are half egg shaped and mixture of dark or milk chocolate with chocolate coating. The European truffles is using syrup in its preparation, along with cocoa and milk powder with other ingredients to give it more oil-in-water type of feel. Vegan truffles are also making waves in the confectionary business, they are based on the same principle, but replace dairy products with plant based ones.
Truffles can be almost any shape, providing they are filled with a ganache and coated in cocoa powder, although the traditional truffle is circular. Modern-day truffles are often enrobed in spices such as paprika, peppercorns, chili and fruit. If you're making your own chocolate truffles, you can experiment with flavours to your heart's content. You can add a number of extra ingredients to either the ganache or the coating. To get an idea of the many flavours available, we have listed a few here: Chocolate orange truffles, Chocolate hazelnut truffles, Chocolate chilli truffles, Chocolate brandy truffles, Chocolate rum truffles, Chocolate fig truffles, Chocolate almond truffles, Chocolate Christmas truffles, Coffee chocolate or mocha truffles, Chocolate ginger truffles, Chocolate fruit and nut truffles, Chocolate mint truffles.
There are three main types of chocolate truffles, namely Swiss, European and American. Swiss truffles are produced using a mixture of butter and dairy crème with melted chocolate. Once combined, the mixture is poured into casts before being ensconced by a coating of rich cocoa powder. French truffles are created with chocolate and fresh crème, before being shaped and rolled in cocoa or nut powder. Belgium truffles differ slightly in that they have a dark or milk chocolate shell and a praline or buttercream ganache centre. American truffles are much larger in size and are shaped a little like a half egg. Inside this casing is a mixture of milk or dark chocolate with butterfat. Certain variants can use coconut oil instead of the butterfat too. European truffles boast a base made up of milk powder, cocoa powder and other fats. Inside is a syrup flavoured chocolate ganache. Vegan truffles: For those who prefer a healthier version of the classic truffle, this chocolate can be created in any shape, using a number of flavours. Ingredients include oats, agave syrup, raw chocolate, nut butters and chia seeds.

If you're looking for a bit of entertainment for the kids over the weekend, making homemade truffles is one of the easiest recipes they can try. Limited ingredients needed and the fun of rolling the truffles into proper shape in their hands will be certainly one fun afternoon. Making truffles at home is also a great idea if you're hosting a baby shower or a bridal shower. Don't forget about the best bit – tasting of the finished masterpiece!
To make the perfect chocolate truffles, you must begin by melting small chunks of chocolate over a simmering pan of water. You can use white, milk or dark chocolate – it all comes down to personal preference. Once the chocolate is melted, allow it to cool for a short period of time before adding crème to the mixture. To ensure your truffles have a light and fluffy texture, whisk the mixture until it begins to thicken. If you have decided to create alcoholic truffles, this is when you should add any additional liquid ingredients. Cover the mixture and place in a fridge for up to one hour and only remove from the fridge when firm. The next stage is when the fun really begins. Using a teaspoon, spoon portions of the mixture into your hands and roll between your palms to create a ball-like shape. Dip the ball into your selected coating (this can be anything from cocoa to chopped nuts to crushed biscuits) and set aside. For best results, you should chill before serving.
